Faith Christian Game!

Hi Girls,

Nice win over Faith Christian tonight. It was an important game and we had to play hard to get the win. Nice work. Final Score 28 to 12.

1- Scoring totals: Ashton Bradley 10 pts, Lindy Clark 5 pts, Kaela Kessinger 4 points, Meredith Stephenson 3 points, Destiny Newsome 2 points, Jamie Harris 2 points, Kimberly May 2 points.

2- Faith Scoring: #15 H. Gurganus 4 pts, #10 Brittany Daniels 2 pts, #20 Elena Butler 2 pts, #21 Kristen Watson 2 pts, #24 Madison Moore 2 pts.

3- Rebounding Leaders: Lindy Clark, Ashton Bradley, Jennifer Harvell and Kalee Dickens 4 rebounds each. Meredith Stephenson 2 rebounds, J. Harris, K. May, K. Kessinger 1 rebound each.

4- Team Field Goal Percentage: 13 out of 50 for 26%. Leaders: Meredith Stephenson 1/1 100%, Kimberly May 1/2 50%, Kaela Kessinger 2/5 40%, Ashton Bradley 5/15 33%, Jennifer Harvell 1/4 25%, Lindy Clark 2/8 25%, Jamie Harris 1/5 20%.

5- Team Free Throw Percentage: 2/10 20%. Leaders: Lindy Clark 1/2 50%, Meredith Stephenson 1/2 50%.

6- Team Steals: 19. Individual Steals: Jennifer Harvell 9 steals, Kaela Kessinger 4 steals, Jamie Harris 2 steals.

7- Scoring by Quarters: 1st qtr.- 7 to 4 Halftime- 11-4 3rd Qtr.- 21-4 Final: 28 to 12.

8- Some Notes and Thoughts: We can be impressive when everybody commits to playing defense hard every second of every possession. There was quite a buzz among our fans about how hard we played on defense and how pretty it was the way we passed the ball. I love basketball when it is played that way. I am so very proud of the way we are evolving as a team.

Think about it Play Hard=Tough Defense/Tough on the Boards. Play Smart= Getting in the right places so good things can happen and making the effort to make things happen once we get there. Play Together= Sharing the ball, making the extra pass, covering our teammates man when they get beat to not give up a easy basket. Our Grades on each section for tonight would probably be, Play Hard 98% (100% in the second half), Play Smart 99%, Play Together 100%.

I left us a little room for improvement. Our next step to improve is even better execution and individual skill improvement. Great Game Girls.

9- We have now won 11 games against a very good schedule. Unfortunately there is no where to hide as all of the rest of our games will require our very best basketball. Our conference is tough.

10- Practice on Friday from 3:15 until 5:00pm. We have to get ready for St.Davids on Monday and Rocky Mount on Tuesday.

11- Destiny has cake duty for Monday.

12- We have improved greatly as a team since the beginning of the year. We have also improved greatly since our mid season make over. Be proud but don't forget that the opposition is probably improving some also.

13- You girls have been a wonderful joy to coach and to teach. I actually enjoy practice more than games, but well played games like today are very rewarding. We are developing a beautiful style of basketball. I see it, you see it, and the knowledgeable fans that follow us see it. Let's keep it on the upswing.

14- According to our stats I think it is possible we did not get credit for a 2 point basket scored by Ashton Bradley put on the scoreboard. Our stats show her with 5 baskets out of 15 shots. This would give us 14 baskets plus 2 out of 10 from the foul line which would be 30 points instead of 28.

Play Hard, Play Smart, Play Together. Go Vikings!

Great Win over Parrott Academy!

Hi Girls;

We had a great win tonight and I will post it on the Official Halifax Academy site and send it to the Daily Herald.

Some interesting points and stats about tonight's game were:

1- We made 12 out of 45 shots for 27% shooting. We made 9 out of 18 fouls shots and some clutch fouls shooting in the 4th quarter. Good Job. I really think we can shoot 40% really easy from the floor and I am looking foward to seeing us do it. On foul shooting 50% is good but we could and should be able to shoot better than 60%.

2- We had 15 rebounds, 15 turnovers and 15 steals. In the last game we made 25 turnovers so that was good progress. 15 Steals were great, this number would not include the times we hustled and forced them to make a turnover. Again this was a great job. The rebounding number was not up to our expectations but hopefully the high number of steals and forced turnovers means they did not get alot of shots at the basket. We do not keep stats on this area of the game.

3- We had 6 blocks and committed 14 team fouls. The foul number was extremely good seeing we pressed the whole game. Interestingly Jennifer had 4 blocks and Ashton had 2. Of course Ashton and some others had some good blocks taken away by bad foul calls.

4- Individual scoring: Lindy Clark and Jamie Harris both had 9 points. Jennifer had 8 points and Kaela had 5 points and Ashton had 2 points. Jennifer had 6 points in the 4th quarter making 2 field goals and 2 for 2 from the foul line. Lindy had 5 of her points in the fourth quarter scoring 1 field goal and making 3 out of 4 foul shots, Jamie had 4 points in the fourth quarter and made a number of great defensive steals and tips.

5- Individual rebounding was led by Lindy with 4. Ashton and Kaylee both had 3, Jamie and Kimberly each had 2 and Jennifer had 1.

6- Leading the team in steals were Jamie with 6, Jennifer 5, Kaela 3, Lindy, Kimberly Ashton and Lindy 1 each.

7- Field goal percentage leaders were Jennifer with 3 out of 5, Jamie with 4 out of 7, Lindy with 3 out of 9.

8- Again I was happy with the shots we got from our offense. We had great looks at the basket. If we ever make them like we do in practice we could score 60 points in a game.

9- Defensively we play well, which means we hustled as a team. Our press bothered them alot. We did let them go by us a few times too many in the first half but in the second we took that away from them. Good thing we did since if we had not we would not have won. Their leading scorers were: #2 Emily Buffaloe 8 points, #5 Margaret Ellen Edwards 8 points, #12 Maddie Barker 6 points, #22 Danielle McLaughlin 4 points, #4 Katelyn Wilkerson 2 points and #20 Teigha Beth Bailey 1 point. They had 18 points in field goals and made 11 out of 20 foul shots.

10- Final score of the game was 33 to 29.

11- By quarters, 1st when we were giving them lay ups against our press it was 9 to 2 them. 2nd quarter we outscored them 10 to 3 making the score 12 to 12 at half. In the 3rd quarter they out scored us 10 to 6 making the game score 22 to 18 them. In the 4th quarter we out scored them 15 to 7 making the final score 33 to 29 Halifax JV Viking Girls.

12- By everybody playing their girl hard with our 24 lockdown defense and not allowing them to get breakaway uncontested lay ups we created offense for ourselves from our defense plus we wore them down. Be proud and remember what I said at halftime, If every player on the court plays this defense tight and hard without letting the other team get easy shots by hustling back to the paint when a player gets by someone most opponents will melt from the heat. Be proud of the Victory and take a great lesson from what you did tonight. A chain is only as strong as the weakest link in an all out man to man pressure defense. Anything less than all 5 playing hard and covering up when a player gets beat and you can look at the score in the 1st quarter and see what happens.

13- Last point: tonight was our first conference win and it came against a team that if it took one additional student in their high school would be in 3A while we are barely in 2A. We took a big step as a team again tonight and I think anyone who has followed this team since the beginning of the year can see the improvement. I cannot think of a coach anywhere that would not love to get the great shots we get at the basket and would not love to have his team play hard, smart, together and with heart the way we played in the 2nd half.

14- Picture day tomorrow. Be ready for a walk around practice on half court at the regular time. Yes, wear practice gear. I will let you stop early enough to cool down and get ready for your pictures at 5:00pm.

15- Girls enjoy this Victory tonight but be ready to start thinking about the upcoming game against Faith on Thursday. I am willing to bet they will be better prepared for our press so it will have to be sharp, hopefully for 4 quarters instead of 2 or 3.

Great Win Girls,

Play Hard, Play Smart, Play Together

Carolina Girls Game!

Hi Girls,

I am posting this before I forget it again.

1: The Varsity girls are going to see the UNC Women play North Carolina Central in Chapel Hill at the Dean Smith Center Sunday February 1, 2009 at 2:oopm. We have been invited to go with them if we would like. I am posting this now so you can remind me to talk to the team and find out if you would like to go. So remind me.

2- We play Tuesday against Parrott Academy in a huge EPIC Conference game. You will be let out of school at 2:30pm to get dressed and shoot around. Don't waste any time. White uniforms, be ready. Tip Off is 3:15 as usual.

3- Wednesday is picture day, everyone will wear green for the group picture except the 10th graders who will wear white. You may choose what color uniform you use in your individual picture. Plan to practice after pictures to get ready for the game on Thursday against Faith. Even if it is just a walk through in the cafeteria, we need to prepare for Thursday's game.

4- Thought we looked pretty good in practice today. Especially liked how we moved the ball quickly and made the defense get out of position. Thought our secret weapon defense looked good also, might call it 99. We might use it in the game if it looks like it will help us win. I would like to be able to use multiple defense's to confuse the other team, 24Lockdown, 66, 99, 22 and 33.

5- A little food for thought, If we will hustle our butts off on defense and the boards and not turn the ball over on offense we proved today in practice we could get great shots and make them. Lets try to play exactly how we played today in practice, if we give total effort to playing that way good things will happen for us. Let's Bring it.

Play Hard, Play Smart, Play Together. Go Vikings!

Cary Christian and Other Notes.

Hi Girls,

1- It was a bad day Friday for basketball. The final score of the JV Girls Game was 42-19.
We did win the 3rd qtr 10 to 7 but with no chance of catching up we got everybody some well deserved playing time. Unfortunately we did not score in the 4 qtr making the final margin worse than it was. Our other school teams did not have much luck either.

2- #24 Amy Vandeventer scored 30 of Cary's 42 points. I think their team scored 8 points after we subbed out the regulars with about 4 minutes to go in the game. If we can stop #24, we can stop their team. That will be our focus for the next game. It will require a great effort and a great plan. I am working on the plan, you work on the effort part.

3- Leading scorer's for Halifax Academy were, Lindy Clark 4 points, Ashton Bradley 4 points, Jennifer Harvell 4 points, Jamie Harris 4 points, Kaela Kessinger 3 points. Ashton led in rebounding with 6, Lindy and Kaela tied with 3 each.

4- Shooting notes we made 9 out of 39 with a few shots at the end not recorded for 23% from the floor. We made 1 foul shot out of 6. We actually had fairly decent open shots but we did not make very many. We made 25 turnovers a large percentage of which came early in the game against their press. The good news was in the second half when we went back out and executed our press offense like we practiced we made very few turnovers.

5- Got some bad news by e-mail last night from Coach Herman. Ridgecroft scheduled to be our last home game canceled out saying they needed the date to make up a conference game. That will put us one game less to play and take away a win I was counting on since we won on their home court.

6- Meredith has cake duty for Tuesday's game with Parrott.

7- The Parrott game is a must win game for us in the conference this year. I understand that St. David's JV beat Cary's JV Girls team. We will prepare for St. David's with a special defense to start the game.

8- Unless it changes picture day will be next Wednesday right after school, I think we are in at 4:30. Sophmore's wear white and everyone else wears green for the team picture. You may have you individual picture taken in either uniform you prefer, just be ready when it is your turn. We play Faith Christian Thursday at home. Another must win.

9- We will practice as usual Monday and plan to practice Wednesday and Friday if we can find some court time. Friday is scheduled for Picture Day for other teams. Be prepared to practice on those days unless you hear different from me.

10- I assume you will get out of school at 2:30 for both games this week since I have not seen any Tip Time changes, I will bring you up to date if there is something different. The game Thursday is against Faith Christian and is another must win for our team, unfortunately we might not have much practice time this week before we play them.

11- This next week is a huge week for our JV Girls Basketball team, lets be ready to play at our highest level of this year. We need to beat Parrott both times we play them to assure ourselves of getting into the conference tournament.

12- With all the recent issues about grades and teams losing players because of them recently I want to repeat that I have no doubt that the JV Basketball team and the JV Volleyball team probably have the highest grade point average of any sports teams at Halifax Academy, probably competitive with any school we play. Be proud of yourselves and keep up the good work. Nothing is better than Pretty, sweet girls that can play sports except Pretty, sweet girls that play sports and are also smart.

13- I am not certain of our practice time Monday due to school being in session 1 hour later. Come to school prepared to practice, I will let you know as soon as I find out our practice time. Unfortunately, that might be Monday.

Play Hard, Play Smart, Play Together

Let's Go JV Viking Girls, time to pick it up on the court!!!!

Team Photographs!!!

Hi Girls;

1- Next Wednesday at 4:30 to 5:00pm we will have our JV Girls Basketball pictures taken in the Gym. You will need your uniforms looking nice.

2- Last year I think all the 10th graders wore their White uniforms and the rest of the girls wore their Green uniforms. This allows them to stand out from the team members that will return next season. We will discuss what you would like to do at practice.

3- Mark this date down Wednesday Jan. 28, 4:30pm. The middle school boys will be in at 4:00pm and and Varsity Girls will be in at 5:00pm, JV Girls 4:30pm.

4- Right now I am thinking we might not be able to practice that day, but IF I can find a way to work it out we will. We also might not be able to practice Friday of that week due to pictures for the boys teams.

5- The St. David's game has been re-scheduled for Feburary 2, 2009. That date is a Monday.

6- Our next game will be @ Cary Christian Friday of this week.

Practice for Wednesday

Hi Girls,

Based on the news that we will attend school on a 2 hour delay tomorrow JV Girls Basketball Practice will be at the usual time 3:15pm until 4:30pm. See you all tomorrow be careful getting to school.

Coach May

St. David's Game Postponed.

The Game with St. David's of Raleigh scheduled for Tuesday January 20, 2009 has been postponed due to snow. It is unlikely that it will be made up on Wednesday as their AD has informed Coach Herman that St. David's would not be in school today or tomorrow.

We will not practice at all today but if the roads clear enough I would like to practice Wednesday. More on that when better information about the highways is available.

A few notes:

1- I thought our new #66 defense has some potential. We need to practice it more and for all the girls to understand it from multiple positions. Hopefully Wednesday we will have some practice time.

2- I thought our Z motion offense looked better yesterday than at anytime so far this season.

3- Execution of play 123 and slice in practice were good and I expect to use them in the coming games.

4- Z-Motion, 123, 314, and slice will be our top 4 play calls most likely in the next game. Think about your role in making each play work precisely.

5- Have a fun day in the snow or catching up on your sleep. Hope to see you Wednesday if the roads are safe enough for travel. I doubt we will be in school before Thursday, but that is just my opinion.

6- As far as practice goes it will be tomorrow morning before I will post anything most likely.

Bad Day at RMA and other notes.

Hi Girls,

1- I can't think of anything good to say about our game against Rocky Mount other than no one got hurt. We actually got decent shots when we did not turn the ball over but we shot poorly until it was late in the game.

2- Don't forget that a great many points in Girls Basketball come on second chance shots under the goal. We had Zero. None of our big girls scored. Kimberly and Jennifer lead the team in rebounding with 3 each.

3- We made 7 shots out of 48 tries. This is about 14%. If we shoot 35% we would have score 34 points from the floor. Add foul shots to that and that additional pressure on them and we are there with a chance at the end.

4- Our rebounding was terrible, we have got to do a better job of boxing out. For what ever reason we did not come to play tonight. RMA is a good team, but we did not show the same game we had against Fayetteville Academy.

5- We will get better at getting and making that little wing shot as well as stepping into the foul line area and making the pass to set that shot up. It will priority one along with rebounding and defense.

6- Scoring totals: Jamie Harris 7pts, Destiny Newsome 3 pts, Lindsay Pulley 3 pts, Kaela Kessinger 2 pts, Kimberly May 2 pts, Jennifer Harvell 1 pt. For RMA: #25 R. Brown 11 pts, #30 M Griffin 10 pts, #13 S. Lossau 7 pts, #10 A. Coats 4 pts.

7- Rebounds for H.A.- Kimberly May 3, Jennifer Harvell 3, L. Clark 2, A. Bradley 2, K. Kessinger 2, J. Harris 1, K. Dickens 1.

8- Shooting percentage Leaders- K. Kessinger 25%, K. May 25%, L Pulley 25% D. Newsome 20%

9- Next Practice will be Monday at 3:00 pm until 4:30 pm. Be there, we have another conference game Tuesday at home. I don't want to feel Tuesday night like I do tonight.

JV Girls Avenge Loss

Hi Girls,

The story line for the great win over Fayetteville Academy is below plus some other Notes:

The Halifax Academy JV girls evened the score of the highly acclaimed Fayetteville Academy JV Girls team Thursday night at home 20 to 11. The JV Girls girls were led tonight by Ashton Bradley who played a wonderful complete game finishing with 13 points, 13 rebounds 3 steals and 4 blocked shots.

She got great support from Kaela Kessinger with 4 points 2 steals and 2 assists and Jennifer Harvell with 2 points 5 steals and 2 assists and only 1 turnover playing against Fayetteville's full court press for the entire game. Lindy Clark finished off the scoring with 1 point and 3 rebounds while Kaylee Dickens contributed 4 rebounds.

The leading scorers for The Eagles were #15 Avent 3 points, #21 Williford 2 points, #44 Warren 2 points, #12 Poulos 2 points. #31 Horowitz 2 points.

The JV Girls are now 9 and 4 for the season and play again Friday at Rocky Mount Academy their first conference game.

1- "Failing to prepare is preparing to fail". John Wooden Legendary UCLA Coach.

2- Girls being Prepared as we were for their press, Playing Hard every possesion, Playing Smart, Playing Together as a team and playing with Heart will take us far. That is what we did tonight and that has become our calling card.

3- The Fayetteville A.D. and Varsity Boys Coach said that he is not sure he has ever seen a JV Girls team that plays any harder. That is what I hear with everyone that is seeing you play. Be proud of it. I don't think it has been the cornerstone of the UNC Basketball program for the last 50 years for no good reason. We can always control the fact that we Play Hard. I would love for it to become the cornerstone of our JV team.

4- We travel Friday to Rocky Mount Academy for our first conference game. We lost to them 3 times last year, the last two times by 1 point.

5- Wear Green Uniforms and for this game you may dress as you like, just look nice.

6- Be at the Rocky Mount Academy Gym at 2:15 if you need to dress at the gym or 2:30 if you come with your uniform on.

7- Travel safe and come ready to play. This is an important game and we need to be ready

Play Hard, Play Smart and Play Together and lets play Good.

Harrell's Academy Game

Hi Girls,

Halifax Academy's furious come from behind rally fell just short with the Viking JV Girls unable to come up with a loose ball trailing by 2 points with 10 seconds left to play in the game versus Harrell's Academy outside of Clinton, NC Tuesday afternoon. The JV Viking Girls cut the 8 point deficit down to 2 on a steal by Ashton Bradley and a three by Kaela Kessinger with 16 seconds to play before finally losing 25 to 21.

The leading scorer's for the JV Viking Girls were Ashton Bradley with 6 points, Kaela Kessinger 5 points, Lindy Clark 4 points, Kimberly May 2 points, Jamie Harris 2 points, Kaylee Dickens 1 point and Jennifer Harvell 1 points.

The leading scorer's for Harrell's Academy were #15 Kathryn Bridgers 10 points, #10 Lauren Huff 6 points, #20 Audrey Register 4 points, #35 Gabbie Johnson 4 points and #12 Suzi Peak 1 point.

The JV Viking Girls are now 8 and 4 for the season and play again Thursday in a rematch with Fayetteville Academy.

Some Notes: The Bad News.

1- We only made 2 out of 6 foul shots.

2- We missed way too many lay ups and put backs. Way too many.

3- We blew a few defensive assignments allowing easy baskets or foul line opportunities.

The Good News:

1- We were playing in a hostile gym with basically only one day of practice with our new team and we played almost good enough to win and we competed so very hard.

2- We bonded together as a team, you could see it. We competed down the stretch with every ounce of heart we could give. We fell a little short today but the foundation of a great team is here. Let's execute a little better, work on making the shots we are able to get fairly easy from our offense and tighten up a few defensive lapse's and this team will take off.

3- I was impressed with our comeback effort and our play with the game on the line. The fans loved what they saw, you could tell by their support. I have got to say, we are not what we can be yet but in the fourth quarter I really loved what I saw. We can be a special team, we will have great fun rebuilding this team and developing the talent on this team.

4- This is now OUR TEAM, be proud of it and lets give 110% and enjoy the ride, I am.

5- You are a very special group of girls and being your coach is going to be great fun. Let's see if we can pull together and win the conference championship!

Play Hard, Play Smart, Play Together and always Play with Heart!

Harrell's Academy Trip.

Hi Girls,

We have our longest trip coming up Tuesday to Harrell's Academy. Here are some notes.

1- We leave at 10:15 am from the front of the school.

2- I have not decided on where would be a good place to stop and eat. Any idea's?

3- We will wear Green uniforms.

4- We will wear Warm ups and Tee Shirts and Green Hoodies.

5- We defeated Harrells 18 to 17 at home in a big come back in December, outscoring them 11 to 4 in the last quarter.

6- We only scored 4 points in the first half last time we played and only had 7 points at the end of 3 quarters.

7- L. Huff #10 forward scored 10 of their 17 points, we will have to watch her close.

8- They only played 5 players the whole game.

9- We have 3 games this week. So be focused!

10- Friday we play our first Conference Game at Rocky Mount.

11- When it comes to shooting, square up your shoulders, feel the shot, knock it in. Be confident.

Our Motto:
Play Hard, Play Smart, Play Together

Our addition to our Motto:
Play Good, Play fast when possible and Have Fun.

Never forget: God, Family, Education and Basketball in that order.

Thought: Always be accountable for what you do or are supposed to do and the way you should behave.

Faith Christian Results.

Hi Girls,

1- All wins are good wins. We are always happier when we win but outside of Hayley's all around play and Jennifer's 9 steals I would call this game FoolsGold. If we play the same way missing all those shots next week I don't think we will be lucky enough to get a win out of any of the three upcoming games.

2- The final score of the Faith Christian game was 35 to 8 our favor.

3- Our Stats: H. Wood 18, K. Kessinger 4, L. Pulley 3, J. Harris 2, C. Wood 2, A. Bradley 2.

4- Faith's Stats: #12 Bailey Lewis 4 points, #15 Haley Gurganus 4 points.

5- We made 16 shots out of 52 attempts. 30.7%

6- Jennifer had 9 steals, Hayley had 5 steals and Jamie had 4 steals.

7- Jennifer had 4 assists.

8- We had 11 turnovers.

9- Hayley and Lyndsay made a three point shot.

10- We now have a winning streak of 5 in a row.

11- Our record is now 8 and 3.

12- We have got to play better starting next week. We made 2 shots out of 20 from the floor from the 4 and 5 spots for the game. Others missed close shots also but did not get as many opportunities.

13- See you at practice Monday, we take our longest trip to Harrells Academy Tuesday.

14- After Harrell's next week we play Fayetteville Academy at home on Thursday and then our first conference game Rocky Mount Academy on Friday.

15- Lets get our heads on straight and our intensity and focus on high and be ready to play. Its time to play our best.

Faith Christian Next Up!

Hi Girls,

Good practice today. We executed our Zone Motion offense very well and got a lot of easy shots from it. We will use that as part of our Zone offense the rest of the year so remember what we did and where the shots come from in it. There is still room for improvement.

A few Notes:

1- On 314 and 215 we improved our execution a lot. It is a quick hitting scoring play and needs to be executed boom boom.

2- On CrissCross, the key pass is the first one. If we execute the first pass in time and with an accurate pass it will create a lay up opportunity almost every time. The 4 needs to remember to roll to the basket or to the front of the rim after making the handoff.

3- We can be a devastating defense team. From now on we will have 24 Lockdown and the milder version of 24 Straight. On twenty four Straight we will press hard on the in bounds pass and then just enough to give them a chance to make a mistake on the rest of the court. 24 Lockdown we will press to suffocate all 5 players. There should be no where to pass the ball.

4- We have got to get better on making Lay ups. We are missing way to many. It will be one of our main concentrations in practice for awhile. Foul shots ditto.

5- Friday January 9, 2009 we will travel to Faith Christian in Rocky Mount. We will leave at 2:10 and play at 4:00pm. To school that day wear your warm ups and Tee Shirts and your green hoodies. For the game, we will need to wear our Green Uniforms.

6- We have won 4 straight games we need to focus hard on making it 5, come mentally ready to play and play hard. Remember that is our calling card. We are going to try to play smart, we are going to try to play together, we are going to try to play good, we would like to play fast but we absolutely can control the fact we are going to play HARD everytime out. Never forget that hustle makes up for many mistakes.

7- Thanks for your hard work in practice and at games, I recognize the effort it takes and appreciate it. The results are noticeable on the court. Playing good is a lot more fun than playing bad.

Play Hard, Play Smart and Play Together and Play Good! Plus when ever we can lets play fast!
Go JV Viking Girls!!!

Fayetteville Christian Stats and JV Notes!

Hi Girls,

Great game today. I thought we really played well and I am so proud of the progress you have all made as a TEAM as well as individuals.

1- Final Score: Viking JV Girls 37 Fayetteville Christian 21

2- H.A. Stats: Haley-9 pts/2 steals - Ashton- 7 pts - Courtnee 6 pts - Jennifer 5 pts/5 assists - Kaylee 4 pts - Jamie 4 pts - Alex 2 pts

3- T. Ellis # 21 11 pts- C. Henrickson #35 4 pts several with 2.

4- We are building our leads with our pressure 24 defense. As the game goes on we are letting off the gas pedal. Remember if everyone is not all over their man this defense will no longer be very effective. In close games the best defensive players will have to play the most.

5- We will practice from 4:40 PM Wednesday until 6:00PM. The Varsity Girls will not practice and make up that day Sunday.

6- Our record is now 7 and 3 and we are on a 4 game winning streak. Let's keep it rolling.

7- Next game will be at Faith Christian in Rocky Mount on Friday, followed by Harrell's Academy at Harrell's Crossroads next Tuesday.

Hi Girls,

That title sounds good doesn't it. Looking foward to writing it again.

1- We beat Bethel Christian 35 to 20 Friday night. Leading scorers were: Haley Wood 9 points, Courtnee Wood 6 points, Ashton Bradley 6 points, Kimberly May 4 points. The leading scorer for Bethel was #1 Kelsie Conner 10 points.

3- By virtue of being the only undefeated Girls team in the Round Robin Tournament we are the Champions.

4- Since there was no committee to select the tournament MVP and All Tournament Team I will take the liberty of doing so. All Tournament Team: H. Wood, C. Wood, A. Bradley, Taylor Norris, Kelsie Conner, Kaylen Rose and Ashton Liverman. Tournament MVP would have to be Haley Wood.

5- Most importantly Tournament Champions: Halifax Academy JV Girls.

6- We will practice today at 6:30pm until 8:00pm to get ready for the next two games. Monday Northeast Academy on the road and Tuesday Fayetteville Christian at home. See you then.
