Tryouts JV Girls Basketball 2010/2011

Hi Girls,

All girls interested in playing JV Girls Basketball be at the Gym on Monday November 1 in your basketball practice gear. All Girls trying out MUST have a physical on file with Coach Herman to try out. State Law.

Girls 9th grade or below be at the Gym and on the court no later than 3:20 pm. Practice will end as usual at 4:30 pm Sharp.

10th graders will need to report to Varsity Girls Practice at 5:45 pm (you need to double check this time). If the varsity does not need you, you will be sent back to the JV team Tuesday. You are welcome to attend both practices if you wish.

We have quite a few names on the sign up list. We will try very hard to make the team cuts quickly and all at one time. I greatly wish there was a girls middle school team at our school for those that we do not have a uniform for this season.

See you Monday! Please share this information with all the girls trying out.

I expect our team to have a great season! Come ready to build on last year.

I look forward to seeing you all.

First day of Practice 2010/2011

Hi Girls,

Monday, November 1, 2010 is the first day of official basketball practice. I look foward to seeing what our skill set will allow us to do on the court this season.

Our goals are always:

1- Play Hard, Play Smart and Play Together.

2- Play great defense. Defense wins championships.

3- Create offense by stealing the ball from our opponents whenever possible.

4- Pushing the ball down court and looking for the easy basket before the other team has set its defense.

5- In the half court offense looking inside for a shot close to the basket first and back outside if nothing is available.

6- Getting to the foul line and making the shots and not fouling the other team. We want to score more points from the foul line than our opponents attempt.

7- Be a great rebounding team. More baskets in girls basketball are scored on offensive rebounds than any other way. Last season we did not get our share.

8- Never ever be out hustled.

9- Always being prepared.

Thought: Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. John Wooden, UCLA Coach 11 national championships.
