Hi Girls;
Another big conference win. All conference wins are big and you girls did a great job of taking care of business especially on the offensive glass and playing tough defense and forcing them to turn the ball over. As they say some days the shots aren't going in as well as other days but you can always play great defense.
As you can see every school in our conference is committed to having a great basketball team at every level. Our record is 9 and 3 overall and 2 and 0 in the conference. If we could go back to the three games we lost I think we would have a good chance to win all three of them.
Be Proud of yourselves, you are representing your school and your coach very well. More importantly you are representing yourselves and your team and your teammates very well.

Final Thoughts: We did a great job defensively, Jamie did a great job on their PG making it difficult for them to run their offense. You can never put enough value on taking the other teams PG out of the game, or not having your PG taken out of the game.
We got lots of steals that could have been easy lay ups if the ball had bounced our way a few more times. Winning is fun, don't ever take it for granted, as the saying goes everyone wants to win once the game starts but you have to be willing to want to prepare to win in practice and that is something we have done a good job of.
We have not played our best game yet, as good as we have been at times I know and I think all of us close to this team know we haven't come close to playing the way we can especially on offense. That is a good sign in my opinion, it shows we have heart, it shows we are a great defensive team and it shows we have room to improve. I personally think we are as good as anyone in the 4 corners and the spread offensively and as good as anyone I have seen defensively . As we keep playing we will relax and make more and more shots in the half court, it is just a matter of time. We just need to remember what got us here and thats Great Pressure Defense.
I also need to make a special note of Mer having her best game, she has been working hard on getting better and it is showing. I know sometimes I push you girls hard to get better fast, those of you that have embraced the being pushed are showing great improvement. If I did not think you had talent I would not push as hard. It is never anything personal I love each and every player on this team and I love how this team plays, you are all special young ladies and we are now and can continue to be a very special team. I would not be the coach you need if I didn't care enough to push you hard.
My job is to help us get there as individual players and as a team. It hurts our girls basketball by not having a middle school team and good fundamental coaching at that level. Every school in our conference has middle school programs. When they get to the JV they have been together as a team for 3 years or more. We have to make up for that disadvantage with focus and heart and hard work. Individual performances aside We win as a Team and We lose as a Team. I cannot think of a single girl we could do without, it will always need to be a team effort.
Our Grades: Playing Hard A+, Playing Smart B+, Playing Together A. Not bad!!
Thanks to all of you girls for your Great effort, Playing Hard is the highest compliment to your Coach and your teammates. Enjoy your weekend off, get rested up and I will see you at practice Monday at 3:00pm. St. Davids in Raleigh next up, Cary Christian next Friday, big games just keep coming our way. I am sure the RMA coach who was the St. Davids coach the last several years will be calling St Davids to prepare them for our pressure defense. That's OK, they still have to play against it.
